My First Thanksgiving as a Blog Writer
Thanksgiving is one of my favorite holidays. A time for good food, good memories and great people. One day of the year when we can come together as family without the daily stresses of life. Even most retailers have scaled back their operations as people opt more and more to spend the day with their loved ones.
Like I said, I love Thanksgiving, but it's the day after I really want to discuss. Black Friday. The day typical American families lose their mind and head to their local retail outlet, or less frequently nowadays their local shopping mall.
So I've been frantically searching the last few days for a great Black Friday topic. Everywhere you look at this time of year it points you towards Black Friday. Even so, I've never really been a fan of brick-and-mortar shopping on Black Friday. Thankfully, neither is my husband, Dean.
Black Friday parking lots are always jam packed, stores are overcrowded and a majority of shoppers seem to become more and more irritated as the night goes by. Annually, we hear about frantic crowds becoming violent, and people getting hurt, all for the latest and greatest deals and steals. Yep, year after year on Black Friday we relish being able to stay in our jammies, and shop from the comfort of own home.
Dean and I have been shopping online for quite a few years as just as many of us have. There are no crowds, no rush and no fights (usually). The selection of products online vastly outweighs even the largest Walmart or other big box store. According to Pew Research, online sales have risen fifty-five percent since Covid-19 hit. Although those numbers seem to be dropping since 2022, online sales are still strong.
Which means a lot of us are changing the way we shop- and think. It's obviously easier to shop from home, but its also a lot safer and quieter too. With the rise of mass shootings that plague America today, many people have shied away from crowded stores and shopping malls, opting to turn to their smartphones or laptops instead.
Which got me thinking. How can online shopping be made even easier? Someone, somewhere must have found a way I thought to myself. So, I started to research different ways to make shopping easier, and sure enough I think I've found a good one!
Thankfully, the good folks over at Amazon have streamlined the way their customers shop. Amazon Access is a perfect way to start your Black Friday shopping experience. Amazon Access features programs and discounts, along with payment and ordering options. You can also learn about and customize your accessibility options so you can shop the way you want to. I've included a link below if you'd like to take a look.
